Places: Nirox Sculpture Park, Krugersdorp

The Nirox Sculpture Park is a beautiful gem of nature and art located in the Muldersdrift region of Gauteng.  After hearing about this park, Suhale and I decided to take a drive up on a Sunday morning.

At Nirox, you can expect calmness, farm-inspired contemporary pavilions, opportunities for mellow relaxation and trees that change colour with the season.

A handy map will be given to you when you enter, depicting the locations and name of each of the sculptures.  Swings hanging from trees scatter the landscape at the perfect places to pause and reflect.

Nirox Sculpture Park is a refreshing pocket of nature in the urban context of Gauteng.  We loved the long walk we took in the gardens, chatting and enjoying the scenery.  I would recommend a visit to the park, combining this with a visit to the neareby Maropeng / Cradle of Humankind and Sterkfontein Caves.

For now, picnics are not allowed at Nirox and there are no refreshments on site part from the complimentary tea and coffee, so keep this in mind when planning a trip.  You can find out more about the park on the Nirox Site.
