Catch Up!

Hi peeps!  It's been a while since I've caught up with what's been happening at Winking Plum & life in general, so here is a much needed catch up session!

On 13 June, Winking Plum launched its first product range at the Brooklyn Design Fair.  BDF is a weekly design market in Brooklyn design square, Pretoria.  It starts at 2pm every Friday and goes on till about 9pm.   To keep in touch with fans, share my rad products and maintain a creative lifestyle, I'll be exhibiting  monthly so come say hello when you have a chance!

Here are a few photos from the launch on 13 June:

I've also been working super hard on design for a home interior - House K - which includes some project management.   It's a really exciting project with great clients.  It's been a wonderful challenge putting together a professional contractor team for the first time.  Once the project is complete, I'll blog about it.  Here are a few sneak peeks of what has been happening so far:

Collaborating with creative friends is always a good idea - I've been teaming up with the awesome Helene van der Westhuizen from in'awe on a few projects this month.  We are doing lots of little bits and pieces - branding, drawings, business cards, any challenge we get our hands on.  My digital skills and her hands-on approach & supplier knowledge make us a great team!

We also have lots of meetings at coffee shops and consume irrational quantities of hot chocolate...  Pretty perfect situation, I'd say ;-)

I've also entered the Comi-kaze Competition at the legendary Parkers Comedy Club!  I've made it through round one and am really hoping to kill in the finals!  Here is Joe Parker, doing what he does best - making people laugh off the weight they carry on their shoulders.

It's a privilege to be part of the business of making people laugh.  Best thing ever!

This year's annual Comics Choice Awards are coming up on 2 August!

This is what I wore last year:

(Dress - Top Shop, Jacket - Belly Button 2005, Clutch - Aldo, Jewelry - Diva, Make Up - MAC, Boots - can't remember, Hair - Ashleigh at Fugo) ****Glamorous Moment****

The Comics Choice Awards event is the one night a year where comics get entertained with paradoxical comedy. The event is arranged by Whacked Entertainment and if last year's event is anything to go by, there will be some metaphorical undertone leaving me wondering what I'm missing, while clutching at every subliminal reference in an attempt to feel smart by figuring it out - much like identifying the illuminati or what survival was like when studying English poetry in high school.  If only everything could be like ekstra-ekstraaitjie.  If you know what I'm talking about, I love you.

That's all folks!  Good day! ;-)  I'd love to hear from you, please leave a comment.
